Siena's Development

July 30th

  1. In and out:  Worked on her move and adding, float and go, float and cross.  Her left is really good.  Subtle twitchy movements.
  2. Casual scissor with pause:  Scissor, scissor pause for a beat then go.
  3. Lean start in and outs:  Slow to fast, to a scissor and then step back
  4. Full court: Bringing the ball up vs. pressure.  Emphasizing eyes up and using the moves.  Staying out of the corners and looking past defenders.  Changing speeds and directions.
  5. Working In and out:  Maintaining space.
  6. Next:  Work on In and Out and building off. 6-week shot course.

August 1st

  1. In and out around the world:  Typical around the world warmup but we added in and out to a jumper.  Do in and out in front of the leg.  Subtle in front of the leg or outside frame.
  2. In and out shooting around:  Trying to incorporate in and out, jumper with random movement.
  3. In and out scissor:  In and out to a scissor with random movement, holding the in and out and doing a scissor at the last second.
  4. In and out scissor to a step back:  On the step back use the in and out.
  5. Free throws: Any missed free throws results in 5 push ups.
  6. Next:  Work on the in and out.

August 4th

August 6th

  1. In and out cross around the world:   
  2. Cone work:  4 spots attacking lead cone.  
  3. Inside game: Varying finishes freestyle.
  4. Back to the basket: Up and under. Shimmy. Focused on footwork. Locating.  Reads.
  5. Next:  Get ready for Cager tryouts.

August 12th

  1. In and out and pound:  Looking so much smoother. Footwork will get better.
  2. 4 corner cone work:  4 spots. 2 spots on each side of the floor.
  3. 4 corner cone work with in and out finish: Just have to remember to attack the defender.

August 13th

  1. Pindowns:  See the defense. Hand targets.
  2. Iverson cut - Zipper:  4 spots. 2 spots on each side of the floor.
  3. Pindowns: Worked on the different cuts. Curl and Backdoor.

August 15th

  1. Dyanmic ball warmup: Lunges, Quick feet and Quick hops.
  2. In and out and pound:  Did better at the end.  Shifty we want to move our opponent back and to the side.  Keep off hand up. 
  3. 4 corner cone work:  4 spots. Skip passes. Ball fakes.  Keep eyes on the ball as she cuts to different spaces on the floor.  Saw some awesome explosion and twitchy movement. Did see some creativity and instinct.
  4. 4 corner cone work with in and out finish: Stayed low.  Attacked cones with force.  Keep the eyes so it can work for you.  Manipulate the defense.  Really moving fluid about 60% of the time.  
  5. 4 corner cone work with float, float and hesi: The defense switches and now I am trying to set the player I know I can beat off the dribble using the floats.
  6. Ball fake drive and kick:  Use eyes to freeze defense.
  7. Zipper: Need more hand target and getting comfortable up. At tryouts game speed.  Ask questions.  Really working on understanding what is being asked immediately.  Get clarity.

August 18th (7 Days Left til Tryouts)

  1. Sound Defense: On ball, Off ball, Transition
  2. Strong with the ball: Catching, Passing, Reading, Dribbling, Holding
  3. Hit the open shot: Get open, Reading spacing, Stay ready.
  4. Make a play with minimal dribble:  Ball fakes, reads, eyes up.

August 19th

  1. The main focus: Really to get her to believe in herself that she can do it.  She is out here working.  Checked the notebook to remind her how many days she has stacke.

August 20th

  1. Warmup: Shooting around the world
  2. Warmup with pad: Around the world with contact
  3. Pin down work:  Siena was really exploding off those screens, checking for the defense. added a pump fake and rip and then to a step back. Worked on getting a tad lower on the rip. Ball tough.
  4. On ball defense:  Stance has been important.  Reminding her to use her arms and not drop em.  Use them to generate momentum.
  5. Shots into press defense:  Communicating after hitting a shot. Directing traffic to teammates. Using her voice and arms are essential.
  6. Corner catch and shoot: Signal to ball handler I am open staying in rhythm.  She made 9 in a row then missed 4 in a row.  Wanted to talk about how to get back on track.  She was able to do that.

September 13th

  1. Watched a portion of the video with Si.
  2. Will add comments to games so she can go back and work on.
